Stock Home Plans or Custom Home Plans?

Each year there are more and more people taking the plunge buying their own home plans. A choice needs to be made as to whether to go for an 'off-the-shelf' solution or stock home plan is good enough, or whether a custom home plan is wanted. In most cases, a custom house plan is really a stock home plan that has been modified in some way. The chief consideration here is cost since custom home plans are a little more expensive due to there being some design work to be done. The amount of extra cost depends on the extent of the customization so it is worth getting a quote before you have a custom home plan drawn up.

In most cases people go for the stock home plans. There is such an abundance of home plans available that most people don't need a custom plan. The main exception to this is for the luxury home plan market, or where the shape of the land makes it difficult to fit a standard home.

There has been quite a boom in home building recently and this is likely to continue. With the advent of the internet, it has become much easier to search out the home plan that fits your requirements. Home plans are available in just about every style you could wish from traditional through to beach homes, log homes and french homes for example. The list just goes on and on. With so much choice, it should not be difficult to find the home plan you are looking for.

Home Floor Plans

Home floor plans will give you an idea of the layout of each floor of the home, including the positions of doors and windows. A home floor plan will allow you to figure out where all your furniture and belongings will go, and an idea of the practicalities of the layout.

Sometimes the best looking home on the outside can be badly laid out on the inside so it is probably more important to get the floor plan exactly as you want it.
